Today, we often hear the expression “have an attitude of gratitude”. It’s an interesting idea. What does this mean to you?
We often hear parents reprimand their children by saying “what do you say”…. and they reply, often without knowing why, “thank you”, but why do we extend such courtesies?
For me, when somebody says “thank you” I then get to say, “you’re welcome” and my world gets bigger. I get to welcome them into my life, and into my heart. And…I want to be welcomed into the lives of others. There is nothing worse than the feeling of being unappreciated, feeling unwelcome, and feeling excluded and alone. So when we say, “thank you” we give others the opportunity to welcome us!
When we welcome people in to our homes who have no place to go, or love those who have nobody to love them, or allow others into our lives without hiding behind a veil, we will find that all we have within us will double, all that we need will be provided, all that we desire will come forth. When we open our hearts and let the full force of our being sing out, we welcome others to do the same. And…then we can really live in appreciation, having an attitude of gratitude!
So...today is Valentine's Day! Lets open our hearts and Welcome the World in. Lets see how often we can say, "you're welcome" today, and lets make sure we also say, "thank you" so we can be welcomed too. Lets step more deeply into Oneness and let the world sing!
Happy Valentine's Day!!

Your Life is like a Big Pot of Soup!
I love soup...I love every thing about it, but mostly I love making it. I get lost in the process, it's like meditation for me. I love the chopping, dicing, and slicing, I love adding all kinds of unique spices, and flavors. I never know how a pot of soup will turn out, it's always a mystery...but I just LOVE it!
I never judge a carrot, I never second guess an onion, or resist the garlic, making soup flows, it's organic and natural...the way life could be lived if we would just get over the fear of making a mistake.
As we live we make choices that "feel" right to us, taking a yoga class for instance. After studying yoga, we might decide to learn something else that is completely unrelated to yoga, and it might not make any sense to us why, other than "it just feels right". Do it! And...then we decided to do something else, and....then something else....and then....It's just like making soup, we add a carrot, then we decide to toss in an onion, perhaps some ginger, or garlic...and we're on our way to a yummy pot of soup.
I know changing jobs feels more "life threatening" than adding a carrot, but that's fear...a belief in your inadequacy, RE-MEMBER you're the Chef, so what can really go wrong? Trust in the process - you are more intuitive than you might THINK, just feel, trust, and move! If it helps, don the chef's hat and apron, and make "soup" out of your life! When it's all said and done, imagine, serving it to God on a silver platter! And, of course, God would respond, "this is the most unique soup I've ever tasted!" Unconditional yumminess!
We are learning to mix ingredients, creating our own unique flavor or taste and it helps to surrender judgment on what we choose to add into the pot, or into our lives. Life doesn't always make sense, it's impossible for it to do so because it's a mystery to some degree, just count on it being delicious and it will be. No body will ever make a pot of soup like yours so enjoy it, and share it proudly with others, nourish those around you with the presence of YOU for your essence is yours and yours alone. Enjoy!

Allow Your Children to Be!
This message came to me on 2/2/99 and I wanted to share it today…
“Now what I would like to speak to you about is to allow your children to BE. To teach them, and this isn’t just your children, but all children, to BE. They have so much inner wisdom, but they’re not given the chance to use it. They’re always being told to do this, to do that, they’re being shuffled here, and shuffled there. They’re not given adequate time for reflections, listening within. We urge you to slow down, and bring your children to your side, sit in the quiet with them, breath with them, embrace them, just sit in the quiet. Listen to the birds, listen to beautiful music. It doesn’t have to be long, but what is required is to synchronize your breathing. This is a very powerful thing to do, when you sit and read to your children, especially at bedtime. You’re able to breathe at the same rate, your breathing is in harmony. You can sit in the quiet when a child is sad, angry, and disappointed and just breath, your breathing will soon be in harmony. The problem right now is that so many of you are in a hurry, you’re not valuing the simple life empowering aspects of your day. If you can’t see the results, if you can’t hold it in your hand, then it isn’t of value, but you will see great results if you try this. Read to your children. Sit down, don’t be in such a rush, nothing is as important than sitting with the children, all else can wait. When they are older make a pot of tea and sit at the table, make time for quiet activities with your children.
Chances are your children are already guiding you in this department. You may want to fill them up with activities but they just keep saying no, you may think they have no interests, but they’re wanting you to come home again. BE quiet, BE home, BE quiet, BE in the rhythm with the day, with nature, with life. They don’t need to fill their days up with activities, they’re happy. WE ARE COMPLETE”

Are You Home sick?
When we first went to Washington I wanted to take my kids to the Olympic Peninsula, to the rainforest. When we got to the west side of the mountain, between the Pacific Ocean and the mountain, I became very claustrophobic. I was surprised by my response; trouble breathing, anxious, and jittery. When we finally drove south, beyond the mountain, I thought, “thank God, now we can go home”. But you see “home” was in Connecticut, even though I was staying at my sister-in-law and brother-in-law’s and had been there for only 2 days before setting out for this little adventure their home had become my known – i.e. home. I realized I was homesick.
My spirit guide explained to me that being “homesick” is a common unconscious feeling that many hold. Not necessarily homesick for a physical dwelling but for their spiritual home, heaven, the light, whatever their idea of this known location of love, comfort, and peace. I understood that many people make choices that aren’t necessarily life enhancing perhaps to hasten their time on earth. This isn’t a conscious action, of course, but my hunch is that most addictions stem from this unconscious desire to “go home”, “to blow Dodge”, “to get the heck out of here”…
Remember how you felt at summer camp? It was fun and all, but in the background of those quiet moments was a longing to be back in the comfort of the familiar. As much as many of us have the desire to live, to be alive, we also have the resistance to living, to truly being alive too.

Face Your Shadow for What it really is!
This morning I woke up with such enthusiasm. I haven’t been excited to wake up in years. I have felt lost and confused for so long, that I felt exhausted even before my feet hit the carpet to begin my day. What changed? Let me try to explain…
From my blog entry from yesterday ~ Groundhog’s Day ~ I quote “Many of us are hiding away like the groundhog in a darkened cave. Hiding our full potential from ourselves and from the world. Afraid of our own shadow, we hide away in the dark, so we can no longer see it. What would happen if we recognize that our shadow is merely a reflection of our own self-illusion as we stand in the light of love?” Ummm
What I realized this morning was that I actually lived with my Shadow Self. Imagine that? Most of us live with our Shadows. Our shadow is whoever pushes our buttons the quickest, whoever we run away from, whoever we criticize, blame, and judge, whoever makes us squirm in their presence. When we stop and face our shadow and recognize it as a “reflection of our own self-illusion as we stand in the light of love” we can let it go, and as we let it go, we let ourselves go and all that is left is love…ummm!
The inspirational message has ended but if you’re looking for a special deal please keep reading.

Happy Groundhog Day!
Come out! Come out! Wherever you are, come out, come out and play!
Oddly, Groundhog Day is becoming one of my favorite holidays and this is why…
Many of us are hiding away like the groundhog in a darkened cave. Hiding our full potential from ourselves and from the world. Afraid of our own shadow, we hide away in the dark, so we can no longer see it. What would happen if we recognize that our shadow is merely a reflection of our own self-illusion as we stand in the light of love?
Why do many of us choose fear over love? Could it be to hide our shadow? Why are we so afraid of being loved, or loving? Why do we make it so difficult? Why do we put so many conditions on love? Why are we so hard on ourselves? Aren’t we loved? Don’t we come from love? Won’t we return to love? Isn’t love all there is?
I find it interesting that Groundhog Day and Valentine’s Day exist side by side of each other. Today is Groundhog Day, but all around me I see hearts, urging me to share my love, to be an expression of love, and to allow love. I am being encouraged to step out of fear and stand in love and when I do I might see a shadow, and my natural tendency would be to retreat to the cave believing that I’m not good enough to be loved, or I can recognize that the shadow is merely a reflection of my own self-illusion.
If I retreat back into the cave, like the groundhog, I might experience six more weeks of winter and the feeling of winter might actually extend throughout my lifetime or I can stand in the light of love, and enjoy the warmth like that of the sun, helping me grow vibrant and alive, happy and free.
So…I remind you on this wonderful Groundhog Day to
come out, come out, wherever you are, come out, come out, and play!
