I sit with my coffee, watching my cats scratch, and I hear these words…
Be not afraid of the flea. It is ever so small, yet you make it ever so big, just like the ego. What is the fear? That the flea will wreak havoc on your home, that you will be over powered and inundated with these tiny creatures. It is the mind that is inundated with thoughts that is the challenge. The mind is the terrain of the ego, and it is inundated with thoughts, many not helpful or inspiring, yet you don’t flea bomb your mind. The flea stimulates motion and activity in the stagnant or the uninspired. The mind can do this too, it can stimulate activity, yet most of it of the itchy, reactive type, with little inspiration or good. The ego stimulates fear, as does the flea.
Step out of the fear and stand in the love. See the sameness between you and the flea. Understand that it too feels small, afraid, and hides, just like you. You hide in the fur of God, running from its touch. Be not afraid of the love of God. Let the love of God make you feel larger than life, unafraid, and free from the confines of fear. Come out, come out, wherever you are, and step into the light of day! And…in joy!
